Police deployed to oversea demos planned to be done against the rising cases of abductions

On Monday, dozens of police officers were deployed across various streets in Nairobi to monitor planned protests against abductions and enforced disappearances. Police headquarters instructed officers on the ground to assess the situation and determine the best course of action for handling the protests. Sources indicated that there was a consensus not to interfere with the protests, as they were expected to be low-key. Officers were instructed to refrain from disrupting any marches unless given further orders. By 9 a.m., only a few protesters were seen on the streets of Nairobi. Nairobi’s police chief, Adamson Bungei, stated that they were monitoring the situation, noting that few people were in the city as many had traveled for the holiday season. Human rights organizations, advocacy groups, youth, and survivors of recent abductions had announced that Monday’s planned nationwide demonstrations would proceed as scheduled in all 47 counties. The protests aim to pressure the gove...

Raila says he is not a beneficiary of dead Gen zs blood

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has rejected claims that he is a major beneficiary of the anti-government protests led by Gen Z. Speaking on Friday, Raila dismissed the allegations as baseless and fabricated by the media. “I am not benefiting from the Gen Z protests. These are unfounded claims made by the media. I have not gained from them,” he said in an interview on Citizen TV. Raila clarified that President William Ruto, after dissolving his cabinet, had expressed a desire for a broad-based government and sought individuals from the opposition party, Azimio. He explained that he consulted his colleagues within the Azimio coalition, and while some were open to the idea, others disagreed. As a result, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Raila’s party, decided to second some of its members to the government. He emphasized that no formal coalition negotiations took place, and those appointed to the cabinet from ODM were selected based on their merit. While these individuals...

Judiciary joins hand in condemning abductions

The Judiciary has come out swinging against the recent surge of alleged abductions, calling them "unlawful" and a blatant violation of Kenyan citizens' rights. In a statement on Thursday, they made it clear that abductions are not only illegal but a direct threat to the freedoms of the people they’re supposed to protect. After all, Kenya is a country governed by the rule of law—so if you're planning on abducting anyone, maybe try another country where it’s more... accepted? The Judiciary went further to remind everyone—especially security agencies—that it’s their job to ensure Kenyans' rights are protected. No pressure. "Kenya is a constitutional democracy," they said, "and abductions have no place in our legal system." They urged all relevant authorities to do their jobs and put an end to this worrying trend. This statement comes amid public uproar over the rising number of abductions across the country. The latest missing persons include Bil...

Activists Horor abductions

The events of August 19 remain a haunting memory for political activist Bob Njagi, one of the "Kitengela Three." That night marked the beginning of a harrowing ordeal for Njagi and two activist brothers, Jamil and Aslam Longton, whose simultaneous disappearance triggered a nationwide uproar. Held in inhumane conditions for 32 days, the trio was suddenly and inexplicably released, leaving many questions unanswered. The case had serious legal ramifications. Acting Police Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli was convicted of contempt of court after failing to appear seven times to explain their disappearance, as ordered by the court. He had been directed to produce the three men—dead or alive—but claimed ignorance of their whereabouts. Masengeli narrowly avoided serving a six-month sentence by issuing a public apology to the judiciary, which coincided with the appointment of Douglas Kanja as the new IG. A Fateful Journey Home On the night of August 19, Njagi, the head of the act...

We are not in that debate right now,” he clarified, stressing the i...

Here are the types of family planning methods

Contraceptive injections have emerged as the most preferred family planning method among Kenyan women, according to the 2022 Economic Survey. The report, released on Thursday, reveals that 595,703 women in Kenya currently rely on Family Planning (FP) injections, highlighting the popularity of this method due to its convenience and effectiveness. The injections, administered every 8 to 13 weeks, provide long-lasting protection, allowing women to avoid the need for daily or situational contraceptive measures. The National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom notes that this method is particularly appealing because it eliminates the need to think about contraception each time they engage in sexual activity, offering both ease and reliability. In contrast, permanent family planning methods remain significantly less popular. The data shows a decline in the number of women opting for sterilization through bilateral tubal ligation, which dropped to 3,616 cases. Male sterilization t...

Its just one government at a time no betrayal joining government

Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has dismissed claims that he betrayed Kenyans by joining President William Ruto's Cabinet. In an interview with Obinna TV on Monday, Joho described his appointment as a constructive move that enables him to contribute meaningfully to government efforts. "I don't believe we betrayed anyone. Politics offers two choices: holding the government accountable as the opposition or driving change from within," Joho explained. He emphasized the importance of taking the opportunity to effect positive change when it arises. "What matters now is what we can accomplish with the chance we've been given," he added. Joho also noted that if Azimio leader Raila Odinga had won the presidency, they would have formed their own government. Ruto says no governor was forced to sign new medical program

President William Ruto has dismissed claims that governors were coerced into signing contracts under the National Equipment Service Program (NESP), which aims to provide medical equipment to county governments. "Anyone claiming they were forced to sign these contracts is lying," Ruto stated, emphasizing that the agreements were entered into voluntarily by governors. He noted that the program involves seven suppliers, and the procurement process was conducted transparently. Ruto criticized those making the allegations, saying, “You would be a fool to claim you were forced to sign something wrong and then complain about it.” He further assured that the NESP and the broader Social Health Authority (SHA) program would maintain integrity, with no room for fraud or corruption. "There is no obligation for any county to procure equipment from any specific supplier," he said, reiterating that multiple suppliers are involved and counties have options. The controversy arose a...
