Office of Registrar of parties sued for failing to register Gen Z party
A city lawyer has filed a lawsuit challenging the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties' decision to allegedly refuse the registration of the Gen Z party. In his application to the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT), James Ogenga seeks a declaration that the Registrar's decision to reject the reservation of the name "Gen Z Party" is discriminatory and unconstitutional. Ogenga's challenge follows the Registrar's refusal of the party name on the grounds that it does not promote inclusivity. "The learned Registrar misdirected herself by not providing the appellant with her interpretation of the name 'The Gen-Z Party' before refusing to reserve it. She only states that the name does not promote inclusivity.
